€ 8 million Gozo Aquatic Centre - Excavation work now underwayThe Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana, has said that a swimming pool in Gozo, “which has been on the cards for years, and that this government is committed to uphold, will be fulfilled in this legislature, with an investment of around € 8 million in a state-of-the-art project for the Gozo Aquatic Centre.

Minister Caruana explained that the swimming pool will be built adjacent to the Gozo sports complex in Victoria.

She said that the project arose following extensive consultation with experts and entities involved in the main swimming related disciplines including; Aquatic Sports Association of Malta, the Special Olympics, the Gozo Sports Board and Otters, among others.

Dr Caruana said that through these discussions a holistic project will be created that can be used by a wide range of organisations and individuals.

“This project means that several key aspects are being addressed, including Gozitans no longer having to travel to Malta to practice their aquatic sports, as well as a pool being available for therapeutic and rehabilitation purposes,” said Minister Caruana.€ 8 million Gozo Aquatic Centre - Excavation work now underwayThe Minister explained that this major project for Gozo will be split in to several phases, with the first phase now underway – that of excavation, while a second tender has been published for a structure in preparation for the construction of the pool.
