Big Band Adventures – official launch of Saturday’s Nadur concert

The June Annual Symphonic Concert by Nadur’s Mnarja Philharmonic Band – Big Band Adventures, had its official launch by the Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana.
The launch took place during a press conference in Nadur Square, addressed by the Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana, Nadur Mayor Edward Said, the President of the Mnarja Philharmonic Society James Buttigieg and Music Director Mro Dr. Joseph Grech.
This popular concert is being organised by the Society with the main collaboration of the Ministry for Gozo cultural funding scheme and the Nadur Local council.
Dr Caruana described the concert as a “milestone” for the Mnarja Band as each year this Society continues to invest and expand so that it has now become one of the highlights in Gozo’s cultural calendar. She also praised the commitment, seriousness and organisation of the Society.
Mayor Edward Said said that this concert certainly further raises Nadur’s name and the name of the island.
He explained that the local council is in unanimous agreement that such events have all the necessary support in order to continue promoting culture among the residents of Nadur.
The President of the Society James Buttigieg thanked the Minister for Gozo for believing in this initiative and providing the support towards its success.
Musical arrangements from Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Beethoven, Queen, medley of Rossini, Strauss, Coldplay, Rock’n Roll medley, popular songs of 1960s, Bon Jovi, Fleetwood Mac, and other musical arrangements “never performed on Gozitan soils by local bands,” will all be included in the programme for the evening.
The grand finale of this 27th edition of the concert will include a spectacular synchronised fireworks show with live music. Mnarja Band will be under the direction of its Music Director Mro Dr. Joseph Grech and will include guest singers Jolene Samhan, Neville Refalo, Denise Mercieca, Sarah Bonnici, as well as Cash and Band.
Big Band Adventures – is taking place at St Peter and St Paul’s Square, Nadur, next Saturday, the 15th of June, starting at 9.00pm.
The general public is invited to attend and entrance is free of charge.
