Young winners of Int. Mental Maths Challenge visit Gozo Minister

Students from Gozo College Gharb Primary School were invited to the Gozo Ministry to meet the Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana.
They recently achieved excellent results in the International SuperTmatik Mental Maths Challenge by becoming champions in two categories.
The young students, who were competing with others from all over the world, were placed first in two different categories – In Category 2 from 18 760 participants: 1st place was won by Leo Buccheri, with 3rd and 9th place in the same category won by Julia Haber and Aiden Zammit respectively. In Category 3 from 25 690 participants: Julia Cini achieved 1st place, while Matthew Aquilina and Julian Xuereb were placed 2nd and 9th respectively in the same category.
Dr Caruana offered her congratulations to Gozo College Gharb Primary “on their huge success in the SuperTmatik Mental Maths Challenge.”
The annual mental mathematics international championship is a mathematics competition for students aged between 6 and 15 year, who participate in different categories according to their age.
This competition promotes interest in mental mathematics and provides students with another opportunity to reinforce their skills in number and mental calculations through constructive play.
