The Armed Forces of Malta organised a Pontifical Mass on Tuesday at The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of Ta’ Pinu in Gozo
This Mass was held following an invitation by the Bishop of Gozo Mgr Mario Grech, as part of the celebration of the Marian Diocesan Year in Gozo, as well as to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the painting of the Blessed Virgin of Ta’ Pinu.
Bishop Grech said that the mission of the members of the AFM is similar to that of Christ in coming face to face with evil. He quoted an extract from (Gaudium et Spes, 79). “Those too who devote themselves to the military service of their country should regard themselves as the agents of security and freedom of peoples. As long as they fulfil this role properly, they are making a genuine contribution to the establishment of peace.”
AFM personnel, both serving and ex-serving, and members of the general public attended this event and joined in the celebration.
