Is-Sagra ta’ San Girgor at Kercem next month

Next month Kercem Local Council are organising a three day festival called Is-Sagra ta’ San Girgor. It will be the first time that the festival has taken place.
The main streets around Kercem will be where the entertainment takes place over the weekend of Friday, the 6th to Sunday, the 8th of March. The weekend of the feast of St Gregory.
During the three-day festival artists will perform their acts at various points in the village centre. There will also be actors in Venetian costumes who will be roaming about the village.
Re-enactments, Il-Qari tal-Bandu exhibitions, traditional food, Gozitan trades, band marches, street decorations, cultural tours, sports and a fjakkolata will also take place. The children will have their own entertainment in the form of animation, puppet shows, games and Disney characters giving shows under a big tent.
On the evening of Friday, March the 6th, a 1960’s themed folk night will be held, with John Muscat and The Greenfields. Freddie Portelli will also give a concert that night. A second stage will hold a dance show by the Menhir Folk Group, along with a folk singing show.
Saturday, March the 7th will feature a Back to the Oldies concert of 1970s and 1980s music by the Philip Vella Band with Claudia Faniello, Aldo Busuttil, Miriam Christine, Fabrizio Faniello, and Rebecca Debattista. Joe Id-Dulli and Veronica Farrugia will host the concert.
There will also be a Festa Spectacular, which will be a music and dance show, with several dance companies and singers taking part, along with Ta’ Cangura Folk Group, Deborah C., Frank and Ron and the San Girgor Band.
On Sunday, March the 8th a traditional lunch will be served under a large marquee. A Gozitan folk group will take part during the meal.
