The extensive refurbishment of the Nadur Primary School involves converting an old building into modern spaces suitable for today’s and tomorrow’s teaching and learning and is being completed without any student having to vacate the school premises.
Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri said that “despite being told that it would not be possible, through planning and carrying out the work in separate phases, the children of Nadur Primary can continue to attend their school, without them having to be moved to schools in other villages, thereby giving peace of mind for students, parents and educators.”
He added that “by the end of the year, we will be giving back a school of the highest level. Through European recovery funds amounting to almost €5 million, we will be completing this educational project on time.”
Nadur Primary School has a population of about 200 children, and about 30 educators.
The school, which forms part of the Gozo College, is housed in a two-storey building and was built at the beginning of the 20th Century on an area of 5,000 square metres and is located in an Urban Conservation Area.
In addition to the extensive work to be carried out both the interior and exterior of the school, the project will include the redesign of open and recreational spaces, as well as the creation of new spaces for teaching extracurricular subjects, including a dance studio, music room, literacy room, theatre studio, and art classes.
The project will also address the accessibility of the building, and it will become energy efficient.

What about all the asbestos that all the people of Nadur and all the students and teachers will be exposed to because of this?

Clint Camilleri needs to mind his own business and stay in his own village. He is just like the developers and if he wants change, he can change his own property. When he starts to talk, walk out on him unless you want to see Gozo look like Malta. Clint Camilleri, if you are reading this, stay in your own village of Qala and mind your own business. Don’t force change on people not looking for it, The school in Nadur was a beautiful old building. There was no need to knock it down.
