Fontana Local Council installs 23 new street lamps

The Fontana Local Council has installed 23 new street lamps in a number of streets within the locality.

The council said that “all the streets within the locality are now adorned with lights that complement the respective environments where they have been installed.”

The new lamps were placed in Triq Ta’ Mulejja, Trejqet ic-Centru Parrokkjali, Wara s-Sagristija, Trejqet Wara l-Idjar, Trejqet Dun Guzepp Grima, Triq is-Sajjieda and Triq San Martin.

The Council said that this initiative was “specifically aimed at offering a safer environment for residents through adequate street lighting, whilst also enhancing the street furniture in the areas where they were installed.”

The new lanterns blend well with the typical characteristics of these areas, complementing the rustic environments around the locality, it said.

The Council said that it also provided for this to be an environmental friendly measure by using LED lamps that consume less energy – thereby reducing environmental pollution.

“The conservation of the typical environments of the locality and initiatives towards a healthy environment are considered as main priorities within the Council’s programme of works,” it said.
