The European Commission Representation in Malta recently welcomed the Europe Direct Irish delegation (European Commission Representation in Ireland) to Malta for a jam-packed 2-day visit, which included a day in Gozo.
On the first day, the group visited the EU Agency for Asylum – EUAA, giving the group a unique opportunity to learn about the EUAA, its support for Member States and stakeholders, expertise, responsiveness and responsibilities towards those in need of protection.
The first animation of a new educational campaign produced in-house, #GetitRight [1] was presented to the participants, after which a very interactive discussion took place.
A visit to Europe Direct Valletta SEM – Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta followed, to learn about its workings and publications produced by the ED such as storybook #nohlomlixidarba (I dream that one day…), a National Book Prize National Book Council (Malta) winner.
The group later headed to the Institute for European Studies – University of Malta where they saw a presentation about the Institute and discussed the role a European Documentation Centre has in disseminating information about the EU.
On the second day, it was time to go to Gozo, where the Europe Direct Gozo team welcomed the group and organised a networking activity at the Cittadella, which has recently won the Europe in my region Regio Stars Award.
The European Commission Representation in Malta expressed its sincere thanks to all involved in helping to strengthen ties between the Irish Europe Direct counterparts and the local network. “This is what Europe is about – bringing us together for one common aim!.”
