According to the latest data from the National Statistics Office, total guests and nights in Gozo during the first quarter of 2023 increased to 15,179 and 32,672 respectively from 12,548 and 27,678 registered in 2022.
The NSO noted that during that same period, the data shows that the average length of stay in Gozo remained the same as last year a 2.2 nights. The net occupancy rate in Gozo increased by 1.9 percentage points to 22.0%.
On a national basis, in the first quarter of 2023, total guests in collective accommodation establishments amounted to 408,989, up from 253,634 reported in the corresponding period last year.
The NSO noted that total nights spent during the period under review reached 1,659,501, an increase of 623,283 nights over quarter one of 2022.
During January-March 2023, the largest share of guest nights (48.4%) was reported in 4-star hotels.
Net use of bed-places in the first quarter of this year increased by 16.0 percentage points to 45.3%.
