Enemalta map shows only one planned outage today in Malta

According to the updated Enemalta map [1] that shows scheduled planned outages and power cuts, there is only one scheduled outage for St Paul’s Bay in Malta from 8am-5pm.

No power cuts at all today are shown on Gozo and Malta and until now, none are being shown on their power outage live feed [2]…. So are they over?

On Gozo yesterday, power was lost in Victoria, Xaghra, Xewkija, Nadur and Zebbug, including parts of Marsalforn.

Enemalta in a statement on Saturday afternoon, said that it was “racing against time to repair damages to its underground high voltage cable network across Malta and Gozo, as the high temperatures registered this week continue to put pressure on the country’s electricity infrastructure.”

Since Monday, the Company said that it had registered 52 underground high voltage cable faults in Malta and another eight in Gozo.

It went on to say that, “Enemalta engineers and technicians have already repaired more than half of them. Several teams are working round the clock to repair all remaining faults as soon as possible.”

Enemalta claimed that “in most cases, electricity supply to customers affected by these cable faults would have already been provided through alternative cable connections in the same area.”

“In other network difficulties, especially when they are in the same area of a previous fault, such supply restoration may not be possible until the damaged cables are repaired,” said the company

Customers experiencing such difficulties can inform Enemalta by directly reporting the fault through the website’s fault reporting tool – enemalta.com.mt/report-power-cut-form [3]/ by calling the Company’s customer care team on 8007 2224 or the Servizz.Gov Helpline 153.

The public can subscribe to the Enemalta SMS notification service by sending an SMS with the account holder’s ID Card number, on 79052492.
