Swimming is “not recommended” at Xatt l-Ahmar, Ghajnsielem, due to sewage overflow affecting the bathing water quality and presenting a risk to bathers’ health, the Environmental Health Directorate warned.
“Officials are investigating to determine the source of contamination, it said. However, “the duration of the contamination cannot be predicted at this stage.”
It said that signs indicating the area have been fixed on site. When the quality is restored, the signs will be removed, and information will be issued to notify the public that the site is again fit for bathing.
