The stock of licensed motor vehicles increased during the third quarter of this year by 3,968 over the previous quarter, the National Statistics Office said today.
This means that the average newly licensed motor vehicles per day amounted to 69, while the stock of licensed motor vehicles increased at a net average rate of 43 motor vehicles per da, the NSO said.
The majority of newly licensed motor vehicles, 3,575 or 56.0% of the total, were passenger cars, followed by motorcycles/PA-bikes/E-bikes with 1,173 or 18.4%.
The NSO noted that petrol-powered engines accounted for 58.2% of the total, followed by diesel-powered engines, and electric and plug-in hybrid engines at 35.9 and 3.7 per cent respectively.
Compared to the second quarter of 2023, increases of 20.6%, 13.4% and 10.8% were registered in plug-in hybrid (diesel-electric), electric and combined (diesel-LPG) motor vehicles respectively, the NSO said.
