The latest data from the National Statistics Office show that outbound tourist trips during the third quarter of this year reached 248,094 (+28.3%), while total nights spent amounted to 1,817,893 nights (+30.5%).
Once again Italy remained the most popular destination with a share of 38.9%.
The NSO noted that the majority of guest nights (57.7%) were spent in rented accommodation establishments.
Outbound tourist trips in the first three quarters of 2023 reached 595,717 (+41.3%) while total nights spent surpassed 4.1 million nights (+38.3%).
For the first three quarters of 2023 total tourism expenditure was estimated at €538.7 million (+50.1%) while expenditure per capita stood at €904 (+6.2%).
