Eight finalists participated in the final round of the fifth edition of the Thematic STEM Debate, organised by the Directorate for STEM & VET Programmes and which was supported by the HSBC Malta Foundation.
The final round of the Thematic STEM Debate was held at Kullegg San Benedittu, Skola Medja, Hal Kirkop.
The Year 6 finalist students debated the theme ‘Animal Testing’ during a debate moderated by Neville Dimech, a member of the Primary Science Team.
Each student debater was adjudicated by a panel of professionals namely, Emanuel Schembri on behalf of HSBC Malta Foundation, Rebecca Buttigieg on behalf of Esplora Interactive Science Centre, and Daniella Polidano on behalf of the the Directorate for STEM and VET Programmes.
The organisers expressed their thanks to the panel for their support and collaboration.
Following the final debate, three participants (in alphabetical order) were awarded the Top Debater Award and received a smartwatch and science activity book provided by the HSBC Malta Foundation:

Robyn Snyman – School Maria Regina College Mellieha Primary
The organisers also expressed their appreciation to all the finalists and their mentors “for committing to the Thematic STEM Debate initiative through research and putting forward such highly valid points.
