Animae Gospel Choir in concert at the Manoel Theatre

Final preparations are under way for ‘Animae Gospel Choir in Concert’ as days for these much anticipated performances approach. The audience will be treated to top-notch local performers in this unique concert. It will also be a first performance of its kind to be produced at Malta’s national theatre.

Animae Gospel Choir was originally formed by Glen Vella, Leontine and Pamela just over a year ago, starting with only nine members together with a keyboardist. This upcoming concert will see the introduction of nine other well known singers making it a most interesting and rich ensemble. The concert, happening on the 17th and 18th of October at the Manoel Theatre, will be enhanced by a seven-piece band made up of some of the best session musicians on the island, and will also feature guest performances by Chiara and Ivan from Wintermoods.

Although Animae Gospel Choir performs quite often in local churches, for this concert the choir has prepared a special programme of around an hour and a half full of pop, soul and gospel style music, featuring songs from great artistes such as Michael Jackson, Anastacia and Zucchero amongst others.

Christian Borg, producer of this event and manager of the same choir confirmed that only a few seats are left available. “We are very happy with the response we’ve had so far. It was an incredible challenge to produce a concert of this kind, and to stick to high standards during the current financial situation, but the enthusiasm of all persons involved together with a great deal of hard work allowed us to persist till the end.” Mr Borg also commented that local cultural events are always improving in standard, but a lot of support is still needed especially from the local business community.
