A new community health clinic has been inaugurated in Qala by Minister for Health and Active Ageing Jo Etienne Abela and Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri.
This clinic will be offering services of a family doctor, speech and language pathology, Physiotherapy, Podiatry and Eye Screening service which will be the first service of its kind in a Community clinic in Gozo.
It was explained that it will be possible for the services to be offered by the same professional and therefore the patients will have the same continuous care.
This new clinic, on which works were carried out by workers from the Ministry for Gozo and Planning, was partially financed by the National Social Development Fund (NDSF), and will be serving over 2,500 residents of Qala as well as people living in the surrounding area.
Minister Jo Etienne Abela explained how with this model they are continuing to put the patient in the centre of care at the primary health level. Patients will also be benefiting from full accessibility to timely professional services with the help of the computerised system of the Electronic Patient Record.
He went on to explain that through the concept of continuity of care they will be empowering primary health care professionals to be able to reach a higher level of service for the benefit of patients.
“The Government remains committed to continuing to invest and strengthen primary care in the community so that we can continue to offer a health service of the highest level,” concluded Minister Abela.
Minister Clint Camilleri stated that, “the works carried out in this building continue to testify to our commitment towards improving the infrastructure and health care services in Gozo, for the benefit of residents and medical professionals.”

Congratulations. It is always great news I cannot praise enough the good work both Ministers Jo Etienne and Minister Clint Camilleri are doing in the health sector. My elderly brother always found it a little bit difficult to have to come to Victoria to go to the clinic. Now he has a brand new one in his town of Qala. Thank you.
