Heritage Malta and Stavanger Maritime Museum (MUST) are organising a public hybrid conference = Clean Oceans and Mapping Our Seas – taking place on Wednesday, the 19th of June.
They explained that this event will delve into how advanced digitisation technology can mitigate the negative impacts of human activity on oceans and help preserve the associated cultural heritage.
The conference will host distinguished keynote speakers from the European Commission, UNESCO, Heritage Malta’s Digitisation and Underwater Cultural Heritage Units, and experts from various European countries.
They will present case studies and best practices related to the 3D digitisation of maritime cultural heritage. This event is held under the patronage of the European Commission’s TwinIt! initiative and is funded by the Malta-Norway bilateral fund.
Heritage Malta said that due to high demand, tickets for on-site participation at the Malta Maritime Museum are fully booked. However, the conference will be streamed online to registered guests, thus allowing experts, stakeholders, and enthusiasts worldwide to join the discussions on innovative 3D digital solutions for documenting and interpreting maritime cultural heritage.
The conference will feature six sessions, beginning at 9:00am and concluding at 5:15pm, offering a platform for a diverse range of speakers to share fresh insights and expert knowledge.
