Watch – 3 turtles released back to the sea at Ramla Bay, Gozo

On Saturday at Ramla Bay in Gozo, Nature Trust – FEE Malta – Gozo Section released 3 Sea Turtles, Jaxon, Carla and Fortythree back in to the sea after successful rehabilitation at the Xrobb L-Ghagin Nature Park and Wildlife Rehab Centre in Malta.

Following the releases, NTM Gozo Section excavated the recently hatched turtle nest [1] with the presence of Dr Grupetta and ERA – Environment & Resources Authority following the 3rd night of hatching.

Upon inspection, 12 live turtles were found in the nest, 11 of which were released in to the sea after some hydration, however the remaining one was found with a birth defect to one of the front flippers.

The little one has been taken to the rehab centre to see if it can adapt and learn to swim and hunt successfully with the deformity.

The Wildlife Rehabilitation project is carried out by Nature Trust – FEE Malta Wildlife Rescue Team Malta at the Xrobb L-Ghagin Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre.

The work is supported by the Environment Resources Authority, and our sponsors Lottoland Malta Melita and Megastore.com.mt
