From Tuesday, the 1st of October, the existing fast ferry schedule will be extended throughout the year through an investment of €1.3 million, the Government said.
The Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works, together with the Ministry for Gozo and Planning, announced that following discussions with the service operators, the Government will be investing so that the travel schedule is fixed and does not change from one period to another, as well as increase the number of trips.
It was explained that in the first year of operation, the fast ferry carried around 365,000 passengers. During 2023, this rose to 693,000 while in the first 6 months of this year, the service has already been utilised by more than 409,000 people.
The operators of Gozo Highspeed welcomed this initiative. “As the operators of the Fast Ferry we have received very positive feedback about the service and we are sure that this initiative will guarantee an even more efficient service to all our customers.”
