The Gozo Tourism Association has welcomed yesterday’s announcement [1] that the present fast ferry summer schedule will be extended to cover the whole year.
The Association said that “this initiative is mostly definitely another improvement in the inter-island’s connectivity, as it further instills confidence in a consistent schedule for this important mode of sea transport between Malta and Gozo.”
It noted that since the introduction of the fast ferry service in June 2021, the number of commuters has continued to increase. “This was possible through the full commitment of both Government and the private operators,” the Association said.
The announcement of this investment to ensure a more frequent schedule is “enhancing and ensuring reliable connectivity between the ports of Valletta and Mgarr,” the MTA said. “It is also an investment towards the social and economic aspirations of the Island region of Gozo.”
The Gozo Tourism Association concluded by saying that “through this improvement in the fast ferry service the touristic sector on Gozo will continue to benefit especially in mitigating seasonality.”
