The Gozo Business Chamber has welcomed the improvements in the fast ferry service between the two islands announced yesterday by the Government.
The Chamber said that “this change leads to an all-year round scheduled service, especially during times when this is most necessary for Gozitans.”
The GBC had reiterated in its budget document that, “the introduction of the fast ferry service between the two islands has also been an important development. Nonetheless while the level of service in the summer months is acceptable, the same cannot be said for the winter months where significant gaps in the timetable lessen its potential use.”
“This gap has been addressed,” the Chamber said, and went on to say that it believes that such a service will lead to the service being used more frequently. “A consistent and frequent scheduled service is important for people to gain trust and use the service even more. Similar to the road infrastructure in Malta, a consistent and frequent maritime service is vital for Gozo’s accessibility.”
“The fast ferry service has been a game changer for Gozitans working in Malta, and for professionals having appointments in Malta,” added the Chamber. “It is important that these efforts towards enhancing Gozo’s accessibility continue unabated on all fronts.”
