There were 299 reported traffic accidents in Gozo during the third quarter of this year, down by 19 or -6.0% on 2023, the National Statistics Office said.
Of the 299 accidents, 265 were reported as non-injury road traffic accidents, down by 6 on 2023. There were 34 reported with injuries involved, down by 13 on last year.
Victoria once again recorded the highest number of accidents with 92, this was followed by Xewkija with 45, Ghajnsielem 35 and Nadur 28.
Also in Gozo – Fontana, Xaghra and San Lawrenz all registered less than five road traffic accidents.
On a national basis, during the third quarter there were five road traffic fatalities involving three males and two females.
Road traffic accidents during the same period increased by 1.0% and casualties decreased by 9.1% when compared to the same period in 2023.
The NSO noted that between July and September, the highest number of road traffic accidents occurred on Mondays with 709 cases or 16.1% of the total.
Birkirkara registered the highest number of road traffic accidents at 281 cases.
