The Gozo General Hospital site master-plan is “currently proceeding with the plans for the first phase,” Health Minister Jo Etienne Abela said.
The master-plan of the Gozo Hospital Site consists of “major alterations, including part demolition and reconstruction, and refurbishment of the existing Gozo General Hospital.”
The application was submitted to the Planning Authority, which was then MEPA, in 2016 (PA07491/16 [1]) as a “screening request,” which to date is still its current status.
The Minister was replying to a question tabled in Parliament by Opposition MP Chris Said, on the current status of the master-plan, as well as when it is planned to be approved so that work can be started.
The Health Minister added that the first phase also includes the geological studies “which are crucial for the construction of the new hospital, as well as the relocation of the elderly and the administration workers.”
