ERA Board confirms protection of Hondoq ir-Rummien area

The Board of the Environment and Resources Authority (ERA) has unanimously confirmed the decision for protection status of the entire Hondoq ir-Rummien area, including Hnejja in Qala.

Earlier this year, a protection order was issued, allowing any property owners who felt affected by the decision to raise objections.

However, the ERA said that after reviewing these objections, it found no grounds to revoke the protection.

The decision was made during a public board meeting on Friday, which the ERA noted was made possible by recent legal changes allowing increased transparency in such proceedings held by the Board.
