Following the apprehension in Bulgaria of a 21-year old Syrian man and subsequent extradition to Malta via a European Arrest Warrant (EAW), the accused faces multiple charges related to an incident that took place in Gozo, Police said.
Yahia Hamid Mohamad was identified in film footage as the suspect in connection with a vehicle arson that took place last May in Triq ir-Ranciz, Xlendi.
He was arrested in Bulgaria in October after he had fled the country. Mohamad was then brought back to Malta.
Police said that the man was arraigned in the Gozo Court last week, presided by Magistrate Simone Grech,
He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded in custody pending further proceedings.
