Children across Malta and Gozo invited to design official Christmas card for OPM

A national invitation for all children in Malta and Gozo to design a Christmas card will be sent out by the Office of the Prime Minister.

This is the fifth edition of the ‘Christmas Card’ initiative launched by Dr Lydia Abela, which for the past few years has been successfully carried out with very strong participation from children and youth across the islands

Dr Lydia Abela invited the children to, apart from drawing, write a beautiful message to be included on the inside of the Christmas card.

“Use your imagination to describe in this card what Christmas means to you,” said Dr Abela. “Both Robert and I believe in the talent and creativity of our children and young people. That is why we are looking to you to be the artists of the official postcards we will send out this Christmas.”

This call is open to all students aged between 4 and 12 years. Participants may use any medium or combination of mediums (excluding sculpture, 3D, and audiovisual), including paint, crayon, pencil, collage, and digital media to complete their drawing.

A selection board led by the Arts Council Malta will select the official postcards for this Christmas from among the submissions from schools. The winners of this competition will be announced on Monday, the 16th of December.

Prizes will be awarded to three different age groups for the best design and best message of the postcard. These age groups are: 4 to 6 years, 7 to 9 years and 10 to 12 years.

The winning design and winning message from each age group will be selected for the official OPM Christmas Card designs.

All children’s artwork will be exhibited at the Christmas Village in Castille Square between the 16th and 24th of December.

A bit late! This should have been planned weeks ago.
