In November, the monthly unemployment rate was 3.0%, this was at par with the previous three months, the National Statistics Office said today. The figure was down by 0.2 percentage points on November 2023.
The number of unemployed persons was 9,824, decreasing by 1.2 percentage points from the previous month and by 4.4 percentage points on the same period of 2023.
The NSO noted that the 25 to 74 age group was once again the major contributor to the overall level of unemployment at 6,528 – 66.4%. The figure for unemployed youths amounted to 3,297 – 33.6%.
The unemployment rate for males was 3.0%, down by 0.1 percentage point on October, while the rate for females stood at 2.9% remaining stable when compared to the previous month.
The unemployment rate during October for persons aged 15 to 24 years (youth unemployment rate) was 10.7% cent while the rate for those aged between 25 and 74 years stood at 2.2%.
