March's rate of inflation as measured by the RPI up again to 2.1%Data from the National Statistics Office issued today show that in March, the annual rate of inflation as measured by the RPI continued to rise, this time to 2.1%, up from 1.9% in February.

The NSO noted that the largest contribution to the overall annual inflation was measured in the food index (+0.56 percentage points), mainly due to higher prices of restaurant services.

The highest annual inflation rates in March were registered in clothing and footwear (4.3%) and beverages and tobacco (3.8%).

The lowest annual inflation rates were registered in water, electricity, gas and fuels (0.0%) and housing (0.5%).

No downward contributions to the overall annual inflation were registered in the month of March, the NSO said.

The 12-month moving average rate for March stood at 1.5%.
