The Gozo VO Scheme, a new initiative that aims to strengthen and support the work of all voluntary organisations based on the island of Gozo, has been launched by Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri.
“We are launching a scheme that aims to support all Voluntary Organisations that are based in Gozo and carry out their work on the island of Gozo. This is a direct investment in the heart of the Gozitan community – an investment in people who work tirelessly for the common good,” said Minister Clint Camilleri.
It was explained that the Ministry has allocated €200,000 for this scheme and each organisation can benefit up to a maximum of €5,000. The Gozo VO Scheme is open to organisations from all sectors and includes a simple and efficient application process that is carried out electronically.
The Minister went on to say that this scheme was formulated after assessing the needs of Voluntary Organisations and the positive experiences from previous schemes such as the Gozo NGO Scheme and the Promotion of Sports Initiatives and Facilities Scheme.
The initiatives eligible for funding are divided into five main categories:
• General improvements to buildings and/or facilities; • Purchase of equipment or apparatus; • Enhancement and promotion of Gozitan artistic and cultural traditions; • Development and improvement of professional competences and skills; and • Community-based initiatives.
Minister Camilleri encouraged all voluntary organisations to apply for this scheme and make use of this financial support to continue strengthening their work in Gozo.
Applications are open and can be submitted until Monday, the 9th of June, at noon.
