The estimated total population of Gozo at the end of 2024 stood at 41,253. This figure was made up of 31,761 Maltese and 9,492 foreign residents, the National Statistics Office said today.
On a national basis, The estimated total population of Malta and Gozo at the end of 2024 stood at 574,250, up by 1.9% when compared to the previous year.
Natural increase dropped by a huge 55.3% when compared to the previous year, the NSO said that this was the result of a “decline in resident live births and an increase in resident deaths.”
The NSO noted that the population increase in 2024 was driven by a total net migration of 10,614 persons.
The net of non-EU citizens made up 76.6% of the total net migrants in 2024.
As at end 2024, 53.1% of the total resident population was male. Persons under the age of 18 made up 14.5% of the total population, while 18.4% were aged 65 and over.

And 10,000 of those residents probably actually live in Malta but use Gozo as there residency illegally, as you should be registered at your main residence.
