PM visits Neil Agius during his training for the ‘The Gozo 7’ swim challenge

Prime Minister Robert Abela visited a training session of athlete Neil Agius ahead of his ‘The Gozo 7’ challenge planned to take place between the 31st of August and the 6th of September.

This initiative will involve Agius swimming 15 hours a day covering 42 kilometres, for seven consecutive days around the island of Gozo.

At the national swimming pool in Tal-Qroqq, they discussed the intensive preparations currently underway, where Agius is preparing himself for the situations he will find in the sea and is working hard on his breathing technique which will be crucial to succeed in his goal.

Neil Agius said that the challenge is very difficult but he knows that with it he will be increasing people’s interest in physical activity and mental health. He also said that it is his intention to give prominence to the island of Gozo with this swim.

While praising the commitment of the Maltese athlete, Dr Abela said that another important message in favour of a healthy life is nutrition which in his words, “must be given more importance.”

Both agreed that food is the basis of a person’s development, because when you eat better you will rest better, be healthier and stay focused throughout the day.
