St George’s Square, Victoria, the saga continues – Luke Said

Luke Said, the Nationalist Party candidate for Gozo, has said that “while we welcome the news that metal plates have been installed to outline the boundaries of the St George’s Square Masterplan in Gozo – it is evident that these are also being ignored.”

He insisted that although an emergency alarm system has been installed, “this does not give others the freedom to take over the square. On the contrary, the general Masterplan must continue to be observed.”

Luke Said went on to say that “we have heard a lot about enforcement in recent weeks. However, the Lands Authority and the Malta Tourism Authority, the entities responsible for enforcing the regulations, seem to be no longer taking action.”

“Yes,” Said added, “we will continue to put pressure on the authorities.”

Why aren’t these tables and chairs removed completely. A square is a place for everyone to enjoy, not just the privileged few. It’s “who you know” in Malta and Gozo sadly. Selfishness and greed all around.
