A reminder that this coming weekend, Gharb will be once again be hosting the very popular International Kite & Wind Festival so the hope is for clear skies and good winds to witness the joy of kite flying.
This festival always entices thousands of visitors who want to experience the sight of skies full of colourful, dancing kites in all forms and sizes forming an incredible display over the stunning location of San Dimitri.
Speaking about the upcoming 8th edition of the festival, Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri encouraged everyone to attend this unique event, and explained that there will be spectacular windsurfing and kite surfing demonstrations, with something to entertain families of all ages.
Internationally renowned kite fliers will be performing numerous entertaining acrobatic kite tricks and routines to music.
Mayor of Gharb David Apap invited everyone to visit Gharb for this festival during which there will be around 42 foreign participants providing a kite show.
There will also be kites on sale, kite workshops, handcrafted goods by local artisans, food and drink stands will be available, as well as games and activities to suit all ages.
Other attractions not to miss are the synchronised fireworks show on Sunday and the traditional bonfire of St Dimitri, which is also on Sunday.
This festival, organised by the Gharb Local Council with the support of the Cultural Heritage Directorate within the Ministry for Gozo, will be open from 10am until 6.30pm on both days – Saturday and Sunday, the 18th and 19th of October.
There will be organised parking and the Council is requesting that the public cooperate with those attendants onsite to help avoid road congestion.
From 10:00am onwards – A Park & Ride service will be available from Victoria, departing from the main car park next to the bus terminus.
