Today’s National Statistics Office data, show that outbound tourist trips from January to September reached 270,635 this was a slight increase of 7.9% over the corresponding quarter last year, while total nights spent amounted to 1,321,606, an increase of 16.7%.
The NSO noted that Italy remained the most popular destination with a share of 38.7% of tourist trips.
The majority of guest nights (55.5%) were spent in non-rented accommodation establishments.
Outbound tourist trips in the first 9 months of the year reached 661,026 (+6.8%) while total nights spent reached 4.9 million nights (+16.8%).
Total estimated expenditure by outbound tourists between January and September stood at €681.8 million (+16.5%), equivalent to an average of €1,031 per capita, (+9.1%) the NSO said.
