Catholic Action Movement in Gozo holds General Assembly

The Catholic Action Movement in Gozo held its General Assembly at their headquarters in Victoria, with the participation of a delegation from the AKM led by the President General Marija Cachia who gave a message at the end.

Diocesan Ecclesiastical Assistant Mons Archpriest Noel Saliba led the opening prayer, the Diocesan President Dr. Nathalie Gatt Ellis made a programmatic speech where she emphasised the participation of everyone and also spoke about the major elevator project to improve accessibility at the headquarters.

She expressed appreciation for the large number of leaders and members who accepted the invitation, despite the weather. There was also a feature on the new saint Bartolo Longo.

Four Assistants then concelebrated Mass with the Vicar General of the Diocese, Mons Giovanni Curmi – the Bishop of Gozo was unable to attend. The singing was led by a guitar group from Gharb.

In the homily, Mons Curmi (who spent time in the Diocesan Directory) stressed the relationship between the motto for this year and the pastoral plan that leads us to work to create spaces for Jesus through an active presence in society. Christians – and of course not least the members – “must be prophets who convey a message of love and serve as leaven; with an apostolate of holiness in all environments.”

“The Church trusts us, just as Jesus Christ trusts us”. Even as we were on the vigil of the solemnity of Christ King of Creation, the Vicar reminded us that the Lord wants to reign with us and through us.
