February’s inflation as measured by HICP remained at 2.3%

InflationNational Statistics Office data released today shows that the annual rate of inflation in February as measured by the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices remained constant at 2.3%.

The NSO noted that the highest annual inflation rates in February were recorded in education (4.4%) and recreation, sport and culture (4.1%).

The lowest annual inflation rates were registered in information and communication (-4.1%) and clothing and footwear (-2.1%).

The largest upward contribution to the overall annual inflation was measured in the food and non-alcoholic index (+0.63 percentage points) once again largely due to higher prices of meat.

The NSO said that the largest downward contribution was recorded in the information and communication index (-0.21 percentage points) mainly reflecting lower prices of certain mobile services.

The 12-month moving average rate for February stood at 2.5%.
