This year’s International Music Festival organised by Din l-Art Helwa at the medieval church of Bir Miftuh brings four high calibre concerts to Malta’s spring musical calendar performed by international and national musicians. Two concerts will be held in April, and two later in May.
Friday 10th April at 7.30pm. A Clarinet and Piano Performance by the Duo Kermani – Gentili.
Kymia Kermani – Clarinet, and Alba Gentili – Piano, will play works by Johannes Brahms, Clara Schumann, Wolfgang Andreas Schultz, Pablo de Sarasate, and Francis Lai. This performance is made possible with the support of the German Maltese Circle and the Goethe Institute.
Friday 24th April at 7.30pm
A Vocal and Piano Performance made possible through the support of the Embassy of France is presented by Gillian Zammit – Soprano, Raisa Marie Micallef – Mezzo Soprano, Dillon Camilleri -Tenor, Joseph Cutajar – Baritone,
Maria Elena Farrugia – Piano. The group will perform works by Gounod, Charpentier, Fauré, A Thomas, E Lalo, Saint-Saëns, W. Gluck, H. Duparc and P. Viardot.
The vocalists all form part of the Opera Nova Project founded by Gillian Zammit and Denise Mulholland with the aim of providing a holistic high level of musical education to talented young voice students and to create a local and international platform for these students.
Tickets for each concert are against a donation of €25 per person and include refreshments after the performance in the beautiful church grounds. Block bookings are against a donation of €95 for 4 concerts, €70 for 3 concerts and €46 for 2 concerts.
The medieval church of Santa Marija ta’ Bir Miftuh is located outside the Malta International Airport, near the roundabout to Gudja.

A String and Clarinet Performance by Cuarteto IberMalta featuring Ester García Salas – viola, Inmaculada Muñoz Salgüero – Violin, Isabel Anaya Herrera – Violoncello, Javier Zamora Morano – Clarinet, made possible with the support of the Embassy of Spain. The ensemble will play works by J.C. Arriaga, J. Turina, M. De Pablos and I. Albeniz.
Saturday 30th May at 7.30pm. An Evening of Song and Strings
Soprano, Violoncello and Piano Performance by Miriam Cauchi – Soprano,
Simon Abdilla Joslin – Violoncello and Maria Elena Farrugia – Piano.
The artists will perform works by Gounod, Massenet, Franck, Lucantoni, Brahms, Foerster, Previn and Vella Gregory, as well as a premier of a short composition ‘Melita Rose’ by Mark Pullicino.
