Data from the National Statistics Office released today revealed that 268,229 tourists visited Gozo during May, including both same-day (242,929) and overnight (25,300) or 58.6% of total tourists for the Maltese Islands (457,636).
The figure was an increase of 20.8% on the same period in 2025, the NSO said.
The number of tourists visiting Gozo for the first five months of 2026 including both same-day and overnight visitors totalled 845,587, same-day (782,368) and overnight (63,219) or 50.5% of total tourists. This was a 12.9% increase on the previous year, the National Statistics Office said.
On a national basis, total inbound tourists for May were estimated at 457,636 an increase of 22.3% when compared to the corresponding month in 2025.
Total nights spent amounted to 2,590,408, and total expenditure reached €419.9 million.
The largest share of guest nights (88.0%) was spent in rented accommodation establishments.
Inbound tourists for the first five months of 2026 amounted to 1,673,602 while total nights reached 9.2 million.
The NSO said that total tourist expenditure for January to May was estimated at €1,339.6 million, while expenditure per capita stood at €800.
