The OASI Foundation has launched the 12th edition of the OASI Cup Run & Fun Walk, taking place on Sunday, the 4th of October, in Victoria, Gozo.
For the past 12 years, the OASI Cup Run has brought together people of all ages to promote healthy lifestyles, community participation and, most importantly, the message that recovery is possible.
OASI said that what started as a sporting event has grown into an annual community gathering that combines physical activity with awareness, solidarity and support for people and families affected by addiction.
This year’s event will once again offer something for everyone, including a 10KM adult run, 5KM adult run, 5KM Fun Walk and children’s races.
Families and groups of friends are encouraged to join the Family Walk and Group Walk. The Family Walk offers participation for two adults and one child under 16, with the child participating free of charge. The Group Walk allows four people to participate while paying for three.
This year, OASI said that it is also introducing the Buddy Run, inspired by the Buddy system within the Foundation’s residential programme, where a Buddy supports and encourages a new resident through the challenges of recovery and helps them settle into the programme.
The Buddy Run brings this message of support into the community, inviting friends, family and colleagues to run together and encourage each other towards a healthier life and becoming the best version of themselves. While participants register as a pair, each runner will receive their own individual time and result. The Buddy Run is available for the 5KM and 10KM runs.
The OASI Foundation is encouraging individuals, families, friends, schools, workplaces and community groups to take part, regardless of their level of fitness. The emphasis is not solely on competition, but on participation, connection and supporting a common cause.
The event also forms part of OASI Foundations’ wider mission of promoting prevention, healthy lifestyles and recovery within the community.
Through its work in prevention, education, intervention, treatment, rehabilitation and community support, the OASI Foundation said that it continues to highlight the importance of creating healthier communities and ensuring that individuals affected by addiction are supported throughout their recovery journey.
As the OASI Foundation marks 12 years of the OASI Cup Run and Fun Walk, this year’s message remains as strong as ever: ”every step counts.”

The OASI Foundation is inviting the community to come together on the 4th of October and help make this year’s event ”another strong demonstration of solidarity, resilience and hope – 12 years of running together towards recovery.”
