A public survey entitled Your Journey, Your Say, has been launched by the Ministry for Sustainable Mobility as part of the Malta in Motion programme.
The survey aims to better understand how people travel across the Maltese Islands, the challenges they face in their daily journeys, and how the transport system can become more efficient and accessible.
Through this survey, the public is invited to share their experiences of travelling by the different modes of transport. The information collected will complement technical data and analysis with people’s lived experience, helping to identify the priorities that will guide transport planning in the coming years.
Minister for Sustainable Mobility Chris Bonett emphasised that public participation is essential to ensuring that the Malta in Motion plan reflects the realities people experience every day.
“We cannot plan the future of transport in our country without listening to those who use it every day. We want to hear from those who spend time in traffic, those who rely on public transport, and those who would like more options when it comes to travelling. Malta in Motion is a plan that aims to make a real difference in people’s lives, and that is why we want people to be part of this process,” said Minister Bonett.
Dr Stephanie Bonello, who is leading the implementation of the Malta in Motion programme, explained that the survey will help build a clearer picture of how people travel and the factors influencing their transport choices.
“Through this survey, we want to understand not only how people travel today, but also what prevents them from choosing alternative modes of transport. By combining people’s experiences with the data we already have, we will be better positioned to identify areas for improvement and make more informed decisions for the future,” stated Dr Bonello.
The survey is open to residents and visitors and started yesterday, it will continue for an initial four-week period. It takes residents about 15 minutes and visitors about five minutes to complete. Findings will be published early in the new year.
The Ministry encouraged the public to participate and contribute to this process, which will help shape a more modern, integrated, and sustainable transport system.
