The National Youth Council would like to express solidarity with Bianca Zammit and her family due to the incident that occurred last Saturday 24th April in Gaza. As a Council we firmly believe that Bianca personifies the ideal of those who make great sacrifices in order to ensure that the fundamental Human Rights as well as decent quality of life are enjoyed by all. This is a great example for one and all. Bianca has lived up to her principles, which calls for great personal sacrifices.
This nasty incident clearly shows that sometimes one has to pass through ordeals in order to charge one’s situation which could be for the common good. People like Bianca who live up to their ideal of Social Justice surely deserve recognition on a National Level.
We firmly believe that the Youth of today are the future of tomorrow and could be the key to change.
However, in order to ensure this change, there is a greater need for more respect to human rights. What happened in Gaza is not to be lauded, and all those in authority should ensure that such incidents do not occur in a civil world. ‘Great people are meteors designed to burn so that the earth may be lighted’, (Napoleon Bonaparte).
