On Tuesday, the 11th of May, a small piece of history was written in Malta cricket with a first women’s team practicing the game. The Birkirkara Alligators Womens Rugby team put a side the larger oval ball and tried their hand at the smaller red hard ball. The team had never played before and only a couple had seen or heard of the game before.
The women had a go at batting, bowling and fielding and the session was capped off with a game.
The game of cricket is wrongly associated with men only. In fact at present there are two world cups taking place in the West Indies, one for the men and the other for women.
