The National Shrine of Ta’ Pinu is celebrating the 75th anniversary since the coronation of the miraculous painting of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Ta’ Pinu.
This year, the titular painting was honoured by Pope Benedict XVI during his visit to Malta when he presented the “rosa d’oro.”
To celebrate the occasion, a recital of sacred works is being held next Friday, the 18th of June, at Ta’ Pinu and starts at 7.30pm.
This recital will host ‘The Three Attards.’ Though these three musicians bear the surname of Attard, they are not related. Their only common ground is music and Schola Cantorum Jubilate. While pianist Stephen Attard is the eldest and carries a favorable reputation, Marouska is also well known in the local musical scene. She is a soprano and Schola Cantorum Jubilate’s Director. Philip Attard, apart being one of the bass cantors, is an upcoming and promising saxophonist. During the soiree, they will join talents and interpret pieces by renowned composers like Bach, Handel, Mozart, Portelli amongst others. During this same concert, Marian literature will be read.
Everyone is warmly invited to attend and admission is free. Guest are kindly requested to be seated at 7.15pm. For more information please see the Basilica’s official website www.tapinu.org [1] .
