Update: Gianni Attard, aged 55 from Xaghra, who was accused of the voluntary murder of traffic warden, Furtunata Spiteri, on the 10th of August 2001, has been found not guilty of voluntary murder.
The jurors who had deliberated for 23 hours to reach their decision, voted seven against, and two in favour. Mr Attard, was however found guilty of aiding and abetting in the murder.
Judge Michael Mallia has this evening sentenced Gianni Attard to life imprisonment.
