Bank of Valletta has presented a donation running into thousands of Euro to Caritas (Malta) following the successful BOV ‘Cards for Charity’ Campaign promoted by the Bank during November 2010.
Through the BOV ‘Cards for Charity’ Campaign, Bank of Valletta pledged a donation of 5 Euro cents to Caritas (Malta) for every purchase transaction effected by means of a BOV debit or credit card between the 25th October and the 30th November 2010.
Michael Galea – Chief Officer Operations at Bank of Valletta presented the donation to Mgr Victor Grech, Director Caritas (Malta) during a meeting held at the Bank’s Head Office in St. Venera.
Mr Galea said that BOV is delighted with the level of response to this campaign. “Our Cashlink, Visa and Master Card holders participated whole heartedly, using their cards to effect hundreds of thousands of transactions during these six weeks”. “It is satisfying to note that the BOV ‘Cards for Charity’ Campaign has reached both its objectives. Not only we have managed to entice more and more customers to use their cards, providing them with a modern, straight forward and efficient payment mechanism, but we have also contributed significantly to one of Malta’s leading philanthropic institutions, Caritas (Malta), in this process.”
Mgr Grech thanked the Maltese Community for their active participation in this campaign and Bank of Valletta for its generosity. “Services by Caritas (Malta) are offered free of charge. We depend heavily on the generosity of corporations and on fund-raising initiatives such as the BOV ‘Cards for Charity’ to be able to offer the highest possible level of service to those who resort to Caritas (Malta) for assistance.”
