The Environmental Health Directorate within the Public Health Regulation Department has advised retailers of tobacco products that despite previous press releases and circulars, monitoring of the local market evidently indicates that various amounts of cigarette packets not bearing the combined pictorial health warnings may still remain exposed for sale on and after the 27th April, 2011 as prescribed in the mentioned Regulations.
For this reason the Environmental Health Directorate said that it warns all retailers that any non-compliance with the above-mentioned legislation will result in legal action being initiated. Retailers are urged that they should immediately refrain from accepting for further retail any cigarette products not in compliance with Legal Notice 302 of 2009 and should ensure that all non-compliant stock is removed from sale by the 22nd June, 2011.
