Gaulitana: A Festival of Music draws to a close next week

Gaulitana: A Festival of Music draws to a close next weekThe fifth edition of Gaulitana: A Festival of Music organised by Gozo’s Gaulitanus Choir is coming to an end. A varied programme, co-ordinated by artistic director Mro. Colin Attard, got underway on the 5th of April. The two final events to bring the festival to a close take place next week.

Wed 11/5: Dramatic Women – A Year After: A Vocal Recital

English soprano Emma Darling, accompanied by Gozitan pianist Stephen Atterd, will return to the festival with a recital of operatic numbers ranging from Verdi and Puccini to Saint Saens, British songs, Schubert lieder and lighter numbers. The concert will be held at the Exhibition Hall, Ministry for Gozo, Victoria and starts at 8.00pm.

Sat 14/5 : Finale – Yet Another Go at the Musical Theatre

Fittingly, the Gaulitanus Choir, its soloists (led by Terry Shaw) as well as its guest artists (Emma Darling, Paul Barnes and Pierre Louis Attard), accompanied by Stephen Attard and directed by Colin Attard, will end the festival with a concert devoted to the musical theatre, as it has done in the last 2 editions. The programme is in 2 parts, the first featuring Loewe’s Camelot and the second Bock’s Fiddler on the Roof. The concert is being held at the Kempinski Hotel, San Lawrenz and starts at 8.00pm.

An optional post-concert reception @ 18 Euros is being held. Anyone wishing to attend is asked to contact Josianne Callus on info@gaulitanus.com [1] or 9920 9779.
