The government has said that yesterday an outbreak of E.Coli has become apparent in northern Germany. The main presenting features are bloody diarrhoea which in some instances has led to the development of serious complications resulting in two deaths out of the 138 persons infected.
The statement also said that no cases of diarrhoea caused by E.Coli have been reported in Malta this year to date.
The Public Health Regulation Department advises that anyone having bloody diarrhoea especially if related to a recent travel history to North Germany should seek medical attention immediately.
The Department said it is monitoring the local and international situation.
