The Xlendi Administrative Committee are organising ‘Il-Fjakkolata tax-Xlendi,’ this Saturday, the 16th of July at Xlendi Bay.
The event will be reviving an almost forgotten tradition when the rugged coastline of Xlendi will be illuminated with torchlight fires to commemorate the liturgical feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the patron saint of Xlendi.
The evening of torchlight fires will get underway at 8.30pm.

We used to organise that in the past and we got our own things and bought the needed oil, etc from our own pockets. We used to do the fjakkoli on the rocks on the Karolina side.
However we had to stop organising it, as in one incident, a young English tourist started throwing the fjakkoli into the sea, nearly hitting the boats moored below.

Everyone is invited to help and add thier own torchlights or candles on balconies roofs & terraces! A little hint for balconies – large citronella candles also work perfectly and smell pleasant too!
