A full delivery of food products that had been delivered to Malta by catamaran was returned after it was found that local operators were not in a position to ensure that the products were going to be processed according to the approved regulations.
The work was carried out in a joint effort coordinated by the Malta Resources Authority for Competition and Consumer Affairs (MCCAA), with the participation of Customs Officers, the Environmental Health Department and Veterinary Department along with the assistance of Police.
The MCCAA said this is the second time in as many weeks that a complete delivery was sent back for the same reasons. It also warned that more actions like this are planned to ensure that, in the interest of the Maltese consmer, the correct health and safety standards were met in the transportation of food products.
